Lights on the Clay Courts – your opinion needed

The Riverview Tennis Club has been actively working on behalf of the tennis community toward accommodating night tennis with the installation of proper lighting at our Biggs Drive location. This has been an ongoing process of negotiation and exchange of information with the Town Administration and the Town Council as well as local Provincial and Federal Government officials. The Tennis Club provides great value for the Town in terms of fostering youth development and promoting wellness through an active lifestyle. It is known as one of the premier tennis surfaces in Atlantic Canada among avid tennis players and it represents Riverview favourably to the whole Atlantic Region.

Lights at the Tennis Club would work nicely to grow membership and added interest in tennis generally. We believe the time is ripe for facilitating night tennis at the Clay Courts. Let’s get this done finally!

Your feedback and input on this issue would be most appreciated. Please select the comments icon below to let us know what you think about the potential of night tennis at the Riverview Tennis Club. Let us know if we really need lights on the Clay Courts and why.  This information will be most helpful to local planners in the Town Adminstration.

On Saturday July 18 “Any Time At All” explain to your “Honey Pie” better half “Dear Prudence” or perhaps “Hey Jude” that “I‘ve Got A Feeling” and “Its been a Hard Day As Night” so you want to play tennis. You do not have to go “Across The Universe” or “Back to the USSR” rather just say “Baby You Can Drive My Car” to “ The Long and Winding Road” to “Get Back” to the Clay Courts at the bottom of Biggs Drive. You can also get there by “Yellow Submarine” down the Petitcodiac. You will want to be there “Because” you will have some fun. We know “Happiness is a Warm Tennis Racquet” but “It Won’t Be long” until July 18 and hopefully it won’t “Rain” so be sure and bring your tennis shoes with the “Rubber Sole” and “Meet The Beatles”. Even “Sgt Pepper” and “Long Tall Sally” will be there. Don’t miss this great event to celebrate 2009 Tennis season Sat July 18 – It will be groovy.

Moncton Region In-door Tennis Project – tennis intérieur

 comité tri-communautaire de tennis – réunion

Bonjour cher joeurs de tennis,
Dick LeBlanc AMP
Tel:  506-866-8889
Fax: 506-854-8479
E-mail: pdleblan@nb.sympatico.ca
www.

provenant du groupe. Entretemps, je suggère les thèmes suivants;

Tennis Tri-Community Organizing Committe meeting

        You will recall a meeting held by Tennis NB, chaired by Andrew Wright, (former)ATA Executive Director, in mid-October 2008. At that meeting,  a request was made for volunteers to form a committee with the view of developing a strategy for “indoor courts” in the Moncton area. I was very pleased to see the number of people who signed up and I agreed to help organize the initial meeting. The primary purpose of this group is develop a strategy for indoor courts in this “hotbed of tennis”.  While an agenda is not established for the meeting, I am looking for suggested topics from the group, I suggest some of the following be up for discussion, namely;
  1. Elect a “Board of Directors” to steer this committee and define roles.
  2. History of efforts made by interested parties to establish indoor facilities.
  3. Other possible functions of the “committee”
        Accordingly, you are invited to attend a first meeting of the “Tri-Community Tennis Committee” to be held Saturday morrning, January 17th,2009 at the UdeM CEPS, boardroom 266 from 10 to 12AM. Please advise any subjects you wish included on the agenda and be prepared to be an active part in developing a dynamic
